Unisex baby names

Unisex names - the best of both worlds! Whilst many would assume this is a relatively modern thing, actually they've been around for quite a while. Often the name can have a gender specific spelling, whilst sounding the same; for example Sydney is usually a girl's name, where as Sidney is a boy's.

Whether a name is used for a girl, boy or is unisex can also depend on country and language. For example, in the UK Nicola and Michel would generally be considered girl's names (usually different spelling) however in France and Italy they are usually given to boys.

The list of unisex baby names below is taken from our database. Whilst this does not allow names to be compared by pronunciation alone it provides a good general list of names suitable for both boys and girls.
