Victorian baby names

The Victorian era ran from 1837 until 1901 and was a period of great change. It was a time when much of the world's perception of what 'British-ness' is was defined.

Whilst many Victorian names are considered traditional or even old-fashioned this is becoming something of a positive. Over recent years there has been a revival of many of the most traditional names and today school registers are dotted with an ever growing number of Myrtles and Oscars.
